The weather this weekend was amazing here in western Kentucky. 70s and 80s made it feel like it was late Spring. We went from winter temps to almost summer real fast. But now, we’re make to 50s and rain.
Our weekend was filled with family and outdoor activities. We all slept in a little on Saturday and then started the day with some yard work and drawing on the driveway with chalk (our toddler’s latest obsession).
Saturday afternoon, I met up with a friend from middle school (!!!) who recently moved back to the area and we walked around the park with our little girls. So fun catching up with a great friend!
The girls got hot fast, so we called it quits after an hour. Emery and I spent the rest of the afternoon alternating between playing blocks in the house and playing with random toys in the garage.
On Sunday, me, Emery and my mom had a girls day at the Spring Market at White Chateau. We had some gorgeous weather (even though it was crazy windy) and we got to check out some super cute vendors and get some great food. I had a watermelon lemonade that was to die and got a cute pair gold + pearl stud earrings.
The highlight of the day had to be the petting zoo. They had a calf, mini pony, llamas, baby chicks and ducks, a turtle and some sheep and lambs. Emery LOVED it all. She made all the animal noises and loved petting the calf and the rabbits. Also, look at how cute this little guy is. We visited the petting zoo twice and I’m so glad this was an addition to the market this year.
It was such a great weekend and I feel so invigorated and ready to start another work week.
This will probably be the first of several posts about running with a baby in a jogging stroller.
First things first — it is hard. Like obviously I knew pushing a stroller + a 20-pound baby would be harder than just running but even a short run with the stroller gets my heart rate pumping.
I’ve been a runner for 10+ years. So I knew that even though my life was changing ALOT with a baby, I knew I wanted to get back at it. While I’d been running some (both on the pavement and the treadmill) as Emery was getting older and life was getting busy I knew I needed a way for her to join me on my runs.
A friend at work sold me his running stroller for a steal and I love it! I *think* it’s 2016 BumbleRide Indie Stroller (linking their latest version of the Indie). It’s easy to maneuver, has lots of different seat positions and I can raise/lower the handle. With lots of storage and pockets it’s perfect for running or other outdoor outings!
It took a few runs to get used how I wanted to push it, but I mainly push with my left hand and swing my right arm. I switch back and forth some times and use both hands any sharp turns or big bumps (which Emery loves). I usually stick to running 2-3 miles with the stroller (someone gets cranky if she is in there for a long time).

Hi friends! Coming at you through the fog of new parenthood. We’re 3.5 weeks into life with our sweet Emery Jane and while she is super cute – I think she has her days and nights mixed up – so I am exhausted from basically never sleeping.
While we are slowly getting into a routine and learning what works best for baby and for our little family, one thing I am excited about adding to the mix is being able to run/workout again!
While I’m trying to wait until I’m cleared at my six week postpartum appointment to do anything too crazy, I’ve been slowly adding in some uphill walks on the treadmill and light upper body strength training into my days whenever I have time (ha! which is usually never but I’m working on it)
So much of my identity before becoming a mom was tied to being a runner and I don’t want to lose that now that I’ve added motherhood to the mix. I’m excited to see how I can balance everything in the future and I can’t wait until EJ gets old enough where she can join me on stroller runs!
