Monday with Murphy

I love sunny days with Murphy. He has all the energy in the world and would play fetch all day, every day if we let him. On Monday I spent almost my entire lunch break playing fetch with Murphy and his favorite red ball. Yay for being able to come home for lunch!

Someone was not very good at catch today. I love taking a burst of photos because I catch some of Murphy’s funniest moments.

Exact representation of how I felt today. It was busy, a mess and all around chaos. Here’s to a less hectic tomorrow!

But I am thankful for a pup who loves my unconditionally and listens to me rant about my work day. As long as he gets a treat and a belly rub, he is happy.

Day in the Life — May 2017

It’s been five months since my last Day in The Life post so I thought it’d be fun to change things up today and share a glimpse into my Tuesday. If you want to peek behind the curtain more often, follow me (@megkayrich) on Twitter and Instagram!

6 AM: My alarm goes off. I debate sleeping in and just straightening my hair, but decide to get up and curl it instead.

6:30 AM: After my hair is fixed and I’m dressed, I take Murphy out for a little walk and for him to do his business. He is not a morning pup, so once he’s done, he gets back in bed with Ryan while I tidy up the house (wash any stray dishes, prep lunches, etc) and fix his KONG toys for the day.

7 AM: Finish up any chores, scroll through social media, get the paper and head out the door. Ryan works later in the day, so I leave him and Murphy in bed for a couple more hours.

7:15ish AM: Lately breakfast has been very grab-and-go. It’s a very busy season at my job, and I like to get to work early and get started on some of my big projects before the office gets really busy.

7:35 AM: Get to work. It’s me, my boss and one reporter. It’s nice and quiet. I answer some emails and get started on work.

9 AM: Most of the reporters and my other co-workers are in the office by now. We talk about the local news, what’s new on Netflix and any other office gossip. I also try to take a couple laps around the building at this point. I hate sitting for so long. I really wish we could have standup desks.

9:30 AM – Noon: Work work work work work work. Lots of emails, phone calls, meeting, and writing.

12:15 PM: Head home for lunch. Let Murphy out of his crate, play fetch, eat lunch.

1:30 PM: Back to work. More writing and meetings.

3:30ish PM: Snack time! Great Harvest banana chocolate chip muffins are the best afternoon treat.

5 PM: Leave work and head home!

5:15ish PM: Play some fetch with Murphy before starting my workout. Lately, I’ve been doing 2-3 miles on the treadmill, some free weights and abs.

6 PM: Start dinner. Tonight is tacos!

6:35 PM: Ryan gets home! We eat dinner and watch some tv.

7:30 PM: We stretch and sometimes do pushups and crunches in our living room. We love some healthy competition. I also lose when it comes to pushups.

8:15 PM: Watch a few episodes of The Office, our favorite show. No matter how many times we watch it, it never gets old.

9:30-10 PM: Get ready for bed. Lights out.

Pretty normal schedule to me, but I still love these posts. What did your day look like?

Weekend Catch Up

Happy Monday, friends! This weekend was a busy one in the Richardson household, but it was filled with good food and drinks, sports and friends! This post is a little random, but here is a look into my weekend!

What did your weekend look like?

Friday night we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at home with lots of tacos and margaritas. Not that we need excuse to make tacos, but one always helps 😉

*Those plastic margarita glasses were only 99 cents at Kroger!

I mentioned on Friday in my Friday Favorites post that I was going to meet one of my best friend’s son for the first time! He is so handsome and I was so happy to get in lots of baby cuddles.

Ryan and I both drew Irish War Cry in our respective Derby pools at work, but alas, no win for us. Congrats to everyone who picked Always Dreaming to win the 143rd Kentucky Derby!

Chick-fil-A is always a good idea. I hate cooking on the weekends so getting CFA always feels like a treat!

I finally picked up a pair of calf sleeves yesterday from Academy Sports and I can’t wait to try them out! These are the ones I got if you’re curious.

The rest of this week should include lots of graduation-related projects at work, treadmill running and yard work.

Bring it on.

*T-minus two weeks until my birthday! Insert confetti emoji.

Soul2Soul concert recap

So I mentioned on the blog a couple weeks ago in one of my Friday Favorites post that I had won two tickets to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on their Soul2Soul tour. Well, the concert was Friday night and it was awesome!

I have been a huge Tim and Faith fan basically all my life, so to see the two together in concert was amazing.

I took a vacation day from work on Friday and Ryan and I headed to Louisville around lunch so we could explore the city some and eat before the concert.

During the opening band, two of our friends surprised us and showed up with seats right next to ours!

***Some background info for you – the tickets we won were from our local country radio station. Several of us at work teamed up together to win a radio game called Codebreakers. The game lasted four weeks and every week was a new prize. Week one was a concert lovers package with tickets to five different concerts. Since I picked the winning numbers, I got to choose a pair of tickets that I wanted and the rest were split among the others at work. Well the week four prize was another concert lovers package of sorts and had more tickets to see Tim and Faith. The two other girls from work had won that morning and left work early to make it to the concert and surprise us! It was such a fun time and I’m glad we all got to experience it.***

Tim and Faith performed some of their most recent big hits like, “Speak To A Girl,” “Humble and Kind” and a song off their album they are working on currently that will release this fall “Breakaway.”

They also sang old favorites like “This Kiss,” “Breathe,” Live Like You Were Dying,” and “I Need You.”

My favorite part of the concert is where Tim stopped singing and let the entire crowd sing the chorus to “Live Like You Were Dying.” Seriously, it gave me chills. It was such a cool moment.

While I hated for the concert to end, I am so glad we got the chance to go! And for free!

Driving home in the rain and hail wasn’t fun, but thankfully we made it back okay. I crashed as soon as we got home and ended up writing this recap from my laptop in bed.

I hope you all had a great weekend! Back with some more running and recipes later this week!

What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?

Weekend recap

Saturday started off with 3 treadmill miles. It felt good to finally be getting back into a running groove.

Overall I ran 12 miles last week and I think was fair considering i haven ran consistently in months. I’m hoping to bump up my mileage this week now I’m feeling comfortable at 3 miles a day.

Lucy was a random salad made with whatever was in my fridge. Also. Does anyone else put pickles on their salad? I love them. They add such a salty kick!

After lunch Murphy had a puppy play date with my best friend’s dog Muffin. She just got Muffin a couple months ago and she and Murphy finally got the meet for the first time! After about 2 hours of constantly playing, they went their separate ways and Murphy crashed on the couch for the rest of the afternoon.

Sunday was lots of naps, football and meal prepping. *Sorry my Sundays are boring, but I’m a creature of habit.*

I’d love to hear about your weekend! Let me know about one fun thing you did in the comments below!

Life via my iPhone

Hi guys! I haven’t popped in with an iPhone update in a while, so let’s get it going. This is basically just some random photos on my phone to give you a glimpse into my every day life. Enjoy!

Guys. These almonds are the bomb. While they may not be the healthiest thing out there, they sure were tasty. I got mine at WalMart, so if you’re looking for a good snack, be sure to pick these up. Even Murphy wanted in on the action.

I love taking selfies with Murphy.

I also got to help my parent’s decorate their Christmas tree past week. I seriously love the holidays. Also, I could stare at Christmas lights for hours.

Alabama is SEC CHAMPS (again). Murphy was more interested in the fake fireplace than the any of the football games that were on Saturday.

Planning all the things for work. While I’m not in love with this planner, it’ll do. I didn’t want to spend a much of money on a planner and needed something for work. Oh well. At least it’s bright and cheery.

Leave a photo (or more!) in the comments of what life is looking like for you.

I thought I’d change things up a bit and give you glimpse into my life via the random pictures I take on my phone. Feel free to leave a picture (or several!) in the comments to give me glimpse into your life. Enjoy!

Breakfast.

Work life. I work in a poorly lit newsroom, so no pretty pictures. This is as good as it gets.

Coffee break. My usual caramel machiatto, pleaseandthankyouimg_0970

Running errands. Yay for Kroger fuel points!

Late night blog writing. Excuse the messy kitchen table and the horrible paint color on the walls. We still have some on the house that needs to be done. #HGTVpleaseflipmyhouse

Typical Murph.
