Stopping by my college town

A couple weeks ago my husband and I were able to stop through our college town — Murray, Kentucky!

While we drive through there often (it’s on our way to Ryan’s hometown) we never get to stop and walk through campus. Since we had some time to kill, we decided to grab a bite to eat and see some of our favorite spots.

The shoe tree (pictured below) is one of my favorite traditions at MSU.

A tradition since the late 1960s, Racer “sole” mates who meet on campus hang their shoes on the Shoe Tree, which is said to bring them a lifetime of good luck.

We nailed our shoes to the tree in 2014 when we got married. It’s so fun to come back five years and see them still there! We brought Murphy to walk around campus and it was so hot but so fun to reminisce on our college days!

Here is Murphy on the back steps of Pogue Library! I spent a lot of hours in there studying and writing stories for the college newspaper.

It’s been a crazy life around here lately so blog content is few and far between, I know. But I’m so thankful for those of you who check-in and read! Feel free to follow me on Instagram @mileswithmeghann for more regular posting.

Murphy has his own IG account now (@murphythemuttmix) so give him a follow too if you like adorable pups.

Happy Friday Eve!

Friday Favorites v.108

This week seemed to drag on and fly by all at the same time. I missed work Tuesday and Wednesday due to an awful cold and a low fever, so my days have been all out of whack. We had some nice weather in Kentucky earlier in the week, but now it’s back to cold and rainy. I am so ready for summer!

But let’s move on from the negative and talk about some of my favorites from this week!

1. My love for Oiselle is strong and Kara Goucher’s new line is amazing. I want one of everything, please.

2. The first signs of spring showed up this week! We had two days where the temps were in the upper 60s/low 70s! Sadly, we’re back to cold and rainy today but warmer weather is coming!

3. My brother comes home from college for spring break! His 21st birthday is Sunday, so I’m excited to take him out for a legal beer.

4. This has been a favorite since it dropped, but Sucker by the Jonas Brothers has been on repeat for days. Can’t stop, won’t stop.

5. Murray State won the OVC Tournament last Saturday and are going to the NCAA Basketball Tournament! Ryan and I both graduated from MSU so our love for the blue and gold runs deep. GO RACERS!

6. I’m going to see some community theater tonight with a group from my work. While this isn’t something I do a lot, it’s fun to get out with different people and support something local!

7. Meet the women taking back the streets of Chicago.

8. I had a little photoshoot with Murphy outside our new home earlier and I am obsessed with how cute he is.

Friday Favorites v. 21

IT’S FRIDAY. I love my job, but I also love love love the weekend. Annnd it’s Halloween weekend! I am so excited to dress up and party with friends this weekend. Any guess on what I’m dressing up as?

$5 costume for the win. But before the weekend begins, let’s dive into some of my favorites from the week.

1. I don’t know if this is technically a “favorite,” but did anyone else watch The Walking Dead on Sunday? HOLY CRAP. I’m so sad over Glen, but I am pumped to see how the rest of the season plays out.

*Our friend is dressing up as Neegan for Halloween and he looks awesome. Lucille and all.

2. I’m all for saving money, so here is a great tip for you latte lovers. Latte life hack.

3. This neat little infographic from Brooks. Thanks for sharing Janae! Stay safe friends!

4. #HarassedMidrun <– THIS. Thank you, Runners World for talking about such an important topic.

5. I try to stay away from Hobby Lobby, because if not, I will spend ALL MY MONEY there. But I stopped by this week to get a picture frame for a puzzle we are giving as a gift + find a present for my mom and I left with the cutest Christmas decor. O Holy Night is one of my FAVORITE Christmas songs. I can’t wait to display this on our bookshelf this holiday season!

6. Murray State Homecoming is this weekend! While Ryan and I can’t make the trek south to the ‘finest place we know,’ I hope everyone has a great time and cheers the Racers on to a victory!

7. The No-Gym, Full-Body Workout You’ve Been Waiting For.

8. Murph is ready for football this weekend! Hopefully my Fantasy Team will get a W this week. (I’m currently 2-5)img_0907
