Favorite maternity workout clothes

Even though my running has come to a screeching halt during pregnancy, I am still trying to get out and active every day. Early on in my pregnancy when I looking at other blogs to see what women were wearing during pregnancy + working out all I found were ladies who were several sizes smaller than me. While I’m not quite plus size, I am usually a size 10-12. So hopefully this will help anyone who isn’t a size 4 (no shame at all to those who are smaller! Yall are rocking it. I just want to put my experience out there and hopefully help other women who are a different body type)

My trusty Oiselle long rogas are literally the first thing I change into when I get home from work and I live in them during the weekends. I own five pairs and four of them are size 12 and one of them is a size 14. They are still fit great (though the 12s are almost snug, they are still comfortable!) I never found any true maternity athletic shorts that I liked so I’m hoping my rogas can hold out for another 7 weeks.

This maternity tank from Amazon. Loved it so much I ordered a second the day after one came in the mail.

My ProCompression socks! Swollen feet really started to affect me this week and I have been wearing my ProCompression socks nightly around the house. Thankfully I had five pairs from marathon training, but I’m thinking of buying one or two more pairs (the puppy love design and the marathon navys) to add to my rotation.

For my daily walks and on the weekends when I am about and about more, I always wear my Hoka One One Clifton 5s. So much support and they are wide enough that my swollen feet still fit comfortably.

For work, I usually wear some black Crocs sandals I snagged on a whim one day when looking for shoes. I sized up but they are still getting a little snug – this Kentucky heat and humidity is not doing me any favors.

The best way to put on your ProCompression socks

Ever feel like putting on your PRO Compression socks is a struggle? You are not alone, my friend! It was somewhat of a struggle when I first bought mine.

The awesome folks at ProCompression have put together this short video tutorial for you with the help of one of their PC Ambassadors.

It shows you how to quickly and easily put on your compression socks to ensure that they perform optimally and that you don’t fall over or damage your socks while trying to put them on.

That’s it! Without a doubt, this is the easiest, best way to put your socks on. Using this method, you get the perfect fit every time!

May miles

I can’t believe it’s June 1! The end of April and all of May was such a whirlwind.

While I only hit 35 miles for the month of May, I had so much fun during all of my runs. I ran for fun, with Murphy, one-mile speed tests and they were all great!

I’m currently participating in the RW run streak (and the #BALGrunstreak) so I’m running at least one mile every day from Memorial Day to the Fourth of July. I’ve tried and failed at these streaks in the past — so hopefully this one will be a success. I’m on day five and so far, so good.

Do you keep track of monthly miles?

I have a Google Doc where I keep my fitness log (times, distance, pace, classes, etc). I love seeing how I progress and change from month to month.

Favorites from marathon training

So instead of my usual Friday Favorites post, I thought I would post something a little different instead — favorite from marathon training!

This post is NOT sponsored. Just sharing some products I love that have gotten m through training for my first marathon.

I am in the home stretch of marathon training! Since I have lasted through almost 16 weeks of training, I thought I would share some of my favorite things with you all!

Brooks Glycerin 15
These shoes have been my saving grace during all of my runs since January.  They have so much support and I got them properly fitted (a half size up from what I normally wear) and my toes have been singing praises. I recommend Brooks shoes to any runner.

KT Tape
My knees have been a big point of caution for me during this training cycle. To be honest, I was a little skeptical about using KT Tape. I absolutely did not think it would help me — and I was so wrong!

My NordicTrack Commercial 1750 treadmill
Basically, the first three months of training were almost solely on my treadmill. I even ran a half marathon and one 14-miler on my treadmill during training.

ProCompression Socks
After seeing ProCompression socks all over Instagram (#keepittight) and finding a coupon code on Facebook, I decided to buy some and see what they were all about.

So when I found a discount to get FIVE pairs for the price of two you best believe I ran to my computer to buy some.

Gu Chews
While in the past I’ve typically stuck with strawberry-only Gu — this year I changed it up and started taking the cran-razz flavor. It’s definitely a new favorite. After my race, I am thinking about trying some new nutrition (honey stinger waffles, bonk bars, huma gel, etc)

FitBit Blaze
While at first, I was only going to use this watch for day-to-day wear, it’s kind of become my go-to running watch. I reviewed it early on but I love it more every day.

What are some of your running-related favorites? Let me know in the comments below!

Workout gear for Spring

We are less than one month away from the first day of Spring! I thought it would be fun to roundup some of my favorite running and workout gear for Spring! Some of these products I already own and some are in my cart waiting for me to check out 😉

Brooks Ghost Racerback. I love the fun colors on this tank and the fabric is so light and cool.

Oiselle Flyte Tank. This material is the best!

Nike Miller Running Top. I have this in blue and it’s so breathable. I usually don’t like running in short sleeves, but this one is a winner!

I really want these spandos shorts. Longer than the mini, they look perfect for someone with bigger legs (like me) plus they come in such a cute print!

Team 3/4 Tights. I basically want everything from Oiselle.

ProCompression over-the-calf socks. These are so bright and the colors remind me of Easter!

These are the shoes (Brooks Glycerin 15) I am currently wearing while training for my first marathon. I love how much support they have.

I love these Balega socks. I’ve been running in them since my high school cross country days and they are my favorite “low cut” sock.

Asics color block bra.

The best running belts for storing all your stuff.

KT Tape! They have some fun colors, so at least you can look cute while being all wrapped up.

Sports Bra Squad and a good reminder

Unofficial #SportsBraSquad member. I ran without a shirt for the first time in AGES last night. While I was tucked away in my garage where no one could see me, I felt liberating to shed my shirt and run freely.

I debated on even posting this photo because of my stomach but decided to keep it real over here and show you the good, bad and the ugly. While I’m not where I want to be, I’m getting stronger every day!

I busted out seven miles (11:11 pace) and felt so damn proud of how far I’ve come.

Sometimes I still can’t believe I’m training for a marathon! Three months ago I was barely running 2-3 miles a night and now I’m running seven miles on a weeknight and more than 13 miles on the weekends!

I saw this on social media last week and decided to save it to my phone as a good reminder.

We have more substance than numbers.

Happy Hump Day! As always, Wednesday are jammed-packed for me. I’ll pop back in tomorrow for more running and life talk and then Friday will be my usual favorites post! Have a wonderful day!

RNR Nashville Marathon Training — Week 7

This week was one for the books! I had some great runs and hit a new distance personal record!

Here’s a look at week seven of my training — 26 miles total.
Screen Shot 2018-02-19 at 7.31.44 AM.png

During Thursday’s run, Ryan and Murphy came out to the garage to keep me company and it made the miles go by so fast. It’s funny how having someone to talk to, even if they aren’t running with you, makes all the difference in the world!

Saturday was the most exciting day — I hit 14 miles on the treadmill! The most I’ve ever run is a half marathon, so this was exciting to hit a new PR. Even though I am hoping the cold and the rain go away by next weekend — running on the treadmill for 2.5 hours majorly sucked.

This week I also got better at foam rolling. I don’t seem to be as sore after my long runs anymore, so foam rolling is a lot easier when it doesn’t cause me so much pain. I’m hoping I can keep up the stretching and rolling and stay limber through the last weeks of training.

11 more weeks of training!

How was your week in running?

ProCompression socks review

This post is NOT sponsored. This is just a product that I enjoy that I want to share with you all!

I’m a pretty easy customer. Give me a product that looks good, feels good and works for me and I’m sold. After seeing ProCompression socks all over Instagram and finding a coupon code on Facebook, I decided to buy some and see what they were all about.

So when I found a discount to get FIVE pairs for the price of two you best believe I ran to my computer to buy some.
From the ProCompression website: Everyone can benefit from stepping into PRO Compression products—because increased circulation is always a good thing. Whatever you do—from standing all day on the job to hoofing across 18 holes, from flying frequently for business to competing in triathlons—our socks and sleeves will help you perform at your peak and feel your very best.

I’ve worn these socks for several runs now, both outside and on the treadmill, and I love them! They don’t slide down, they don’t pinch under the knee and no blisters on my feet. They seem to help with soreness during my run and recovery afterward!

ProCompression products are also made in the USA — another win!
*This Valentine’s pattern might be favorite out of all of them!*
**Legs up the wall is my favorite post-run pose.**

If you are thinking of trying a pair out, be sure to check their social media channels for a discount code!

Have you ever tried compression socks/sleeves? What were your thoughts?
