Happy Friday! It’s a sunny day in Charleston (our first of the week!)
Even though today our last day in the city (we fly home tonight) I thought I would recap our two full days in Charleston.
Wednesday kicked off the first full day in the city and was filled with workshops, speakers and lots of masterminding. Our walk to the event was gorgeous. I am obsessed with the colored buildings and the pretty churches.
Our first event for the week was at the American Theater (the same place where Noah and Allie from The Notebook had their first date!) It’s such a unique venue and I love that I get to explore so many neat places thanks to my job.
We’ve also been eating our way through Charleston. Callie’s Hot Little Biscuits and Glazed have been two of our go-to breakfast stops. The pimento cheese biscuit and the vegan chocolate ginger doughnuts were definitely my favorite.
Supper was at High Cotton (another place from the movie!) and I ate so much (#foodbaby). I definitely need to get back to the gym and eating healthy (and not so much) next week.
I love the people I work with and I am so grateful to be surrounded by so many inspiring clients. These events always leave me excited to work on my personal and professional goals.
I am sad to be leaving such a fun city but I am excited to get back to my boys!
Hi friends! This craziness of moving + vacation is real. We closed on our home last Friday, went to an out-of-town wedding last Saturday, then came home and moved furniture a week ago today.
After that, we worked on the house for a couple days, traveled to St. Louis for an awesome Ed Sheeran concert and then came back to rest, recharge, buy some more furniture and prepare for a week of work after being gone for 10 days.
We got the treadmill plugged in and ready to go last night which means I can back to running sooner rather than later!
5. Tried the new mango dragonfruit refresher from Starbucks and it wasn’t too bad! Not my everyday drink, but something fun for every now and then.
6. I’ve been a lot more into social media lately than before (it comes and goes) so feel free to follow me on Twitter and Pinterest (@megkayrich), Facebook (Miles with Meghann) or Instagram (@mileswithmeghann).
You know one of the best things about having multiple jobs (ya, know other than the paychecks) is I am dog tired when I hit my sheets every. single. night.
I’ve been working and writing and trying to work out and eat healthy every day this week and holy cow it’s Thursday and I am exhausted.
*Example of my snack box lunch. I’ve been taking something similar every day this week. It’s helped me cut back on grabbing fast food and it actually keeps me full! Saving money and calories? Win-win!
So while it’s been hectic, I’ve lost a few pounds, I’m getting paid to do what I love and in ONE WEEK we have our final home walkthrough before closing. Now that’s something to get excited about.
Unrelated to all of this, I saw this on Pinterest earlier in the week, loved it and saved it to my phone.
Check back tomorrow and I may or may not have a Friday Favorites post (so professional of me, I know). I have a few things on my list of a post, but I also have a ton to do tonight, so we’ll see what happens. Guess you’ll just have to check back here if the suspense is too much 😉
I feel like my life is a whirlwind right now. I swear I barely have time to catch my breath from day-to-day! So let’s play catch up:
It was Spring for like three whole days in Kentucky and now we are officially in summer-mode. It’s hot. It’s humid. It’s glorious (and sometimes terrible?! haha) Everything is blooming, my allergies are the worst and I am sweaty, nasty mess after each and every run.
Speaking of running, I am finally finding my post-marathon legs. I took a little bit off from running after my race and now I’m finally getting back into a daily routine of hitting the roads and pounding out a few miles. I’m hoping to get in a 5 or 6 mile run this weekend, so fingers crossed!
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this in my stories from earlier in the week. Running tan line is coming along nicely.
Also! The most exciting thing from this week was closing on our old house and signing all the papers for construction to start on our new house! I am so so so excited for our new house. The 90-ish days it takes to build cannot go by fast enough.
Whew! That was a lot for one post. Tell me one exciting thing from your week!
Life has been BUSY since I finished my marathon a little over a week ago. We were supposed to close on our house on Friday, but some paperwork got delayed so hopefully we will wrap everything up in the next few days. Since Ryan was off all weekend (and that basically never happens) we + our families helped up move everything out of the house and into storage.
HOLY MOLY I AM SO SORE. Moving is no joke. In the almost four years we’ve been married, this will be our fourth move. I swear, every time we get rid of stuff, but then when we move it seems like we have so much. Ugh. Oh well, hopefully when our new house gets finished we will be settled for a while.
As far as running goes, I ran once last week. ONCE. Oops. While I think my body (and honestly, my mind) needed the break, I am ready to get back on the roads. Hopefully this week I can run outside a few times!
I’m also wanting to try some boutique-style classes now that I’m not in training, but we don’t have a lot of options in my hometown, so we’ll see what happens.
And lastly, to end this random post I thought I would share my new favorite summer drink. I randomly picked this up at Kroger over the weekend and it so good and refreshing!
I’ll be back later this week with some running posts and maybe even a summer running style guide? Have a great week, friends!
2. Running with dogs as a full-time job? Uhm yes, please! Two of my favorite things combined.
3. We are in the final stretch (I think?) on renovating our house. We crammed so much into this week, it was crazy. Painting, replacing paneling, deep cleaning our basement, ten thousand trips to Goodwill and so much more.
While I know marathon training isn’t the time to lose weight, if we’re being honest, I thought I would lose at least 5-10 pounds while training. I mean I’m running more than ever, so I’m burning a ton of calories, right?
As someone who has struggled with my weight my entire life, it sucks to say I can run miles and miles but I’m still 15-20 pounds overweight. I want to fuel my body the best I can, but I also don’t want to restrict myself from the foods I love.
Balance is hard.Just know, you’re not alone. I love to run, but I love to eat. One day, I find a great balance that fits myself but also helps me be the best version of myself.
Ever have those days where you feel like your entire life is a mess?
Welcome to my Monday. (yesterday)
Some changes in my career were causing some stress (good and bad?) and yesterday was the tip of the iceberg. Thankfully, things can only get better from here, but yesterday involved lots of tears.
Lunch was messy and delicious. I tried this new beet and ginger bean dip from Kroger and OH MY GOSH it is so good. Admittedly, it is a taste I am not used to, but it added such a zing to my lunchtime sandwich!
Also. This color is to die for. *insert heart eyes emoji*
Even though yesterday was a rest day I knew I needed to run. So after work, I hopped on my treadmill with no expectations, no watch and no stats on my screen.
It was just what I needed to end a long day.
So here we are, almost halfway through Tuesday. I’m changing some things up in my training plan and I am going to try and run seven miles after work tonight and only run four tomorrow morning before work. (I know back-to-back runs aren’t great for your legs, but I have to fit them in when I can)
