2019 Run Rock N Roll Nashville medals

Popping in today with a fun post about this year’s RnR Nashville medals!

If you’ve been reading for a while you now last year I ran this race as my first marathon and LOVED it. While the course was hilly and I think they could have extended the time allowed on the course, it was such a fun race. I’m bummed I’m not going back this year, but I did want to share the fun medals they have for the race’s 20th anniversary!

These medals shine brighter than Broadway at night. Get ready to rock your race and then show off some MAJOR bling around the streets of Nashville. With LED lights, glitter and colors that pop you will be lighting up the night on April 27-28.

Discount codes for RNR Vegas!

There is still time to register for RnR Vegas! While I don’t have the money or the vacation days to travel across the country, this race is definitely a bucket list item for me!

If you have the chance to run Vegas I would highly encourage it. The Rock N Blog even has a discount code for the marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k to help you out a little.

Neon lights, light-up mile markers, fireworks, glowing signage, a volcano…this race has it all!

As the only domestic nighttime race in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, this event truly sparkles. Signage will light the way as you navigate the Start and Finish lines. You’ll flash across the Start Line while fireworks set you off on your tour of Las Vegas. Everyone will experience the electricity of Las Vegas as the course runs along the Strip and through Freemont Street. Brand-new mile markers will be literally “lit” from within for this nighttime race so you know how many miles you have left to shine. And finally, your energy will ignite as you cross the Finish Line at the Mirage volcano.

Join us in November so you can see just how LIT it gets on the #StripAtNight.

Focus on the good runs instead of the bad

Last week I freaking killed my runs. Maybe it was the cooler temps or maybe I was just kicking ass, but my pace was the lowest it had been in MONTHS.

And then this week I was back up to running 11:10-30. Womp, womp. It was no fun to see my splits and my honestly I was a little mad.

But why should I be focusing on the bad runs, when I should be focusing on the good ones?! I obviously know I can run faster — just some days it works out my way, and some days it doesn’t.

Does running ever get any easier?

I mean for real. I ran a freaking marathon and some days running 3 miles is a struggle.

Anyone else feel like this at times? It’s honestly a little defeating and sometimes makes me question if I am a “real runner.”

I keep trying to get faster and so far I haven’t had much luck. I keep trying to pick up the pace on my “easy” runs and incorporate strides at the end of most of my runs — but I’m still stuck in the high 10s/low 11s for my pace. I remember workouts from high school XC but nothing seems to translate into my fitness now. It sucks.

I guess I just want to know that I’m not alone. In this crazy world of social media (which at times can be an awesome thing) it’s not easy to not get caught in this trap that everyone is fast and has perfectly matching running clothes (that don’t ride up or chafe, etc, etc) and runs 6-10 miles every day.

Okay. Rant over. Happy Saturday, friends!
