Friday Favorites v. 76

*Sorry for the blog problems this morning! This post published only half finished? So odd! I think everything is back to normal now.

WE ARE LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY FROM THANKSGIVING. Can you tell I am excited?

Before the craziness of next weeks starts, let’s talk Friday Favorites.

1. Every Wednesday I eat supper at Panera before I teach my night class. This week I branched out from my usual order and tried their new turkey and cranberry flatbread. OMG it was SO good. Definitely a new favorite. And you can never go wrong with their broccoli and cheese soup.

2. These festive earrings are to die for! They would be so perfect for New Year’s Eve!

3. My Turkey 5 miler is tomorrow! I’m not really worried about time, but it will be fun to race again. Are any of your racing this weekend? I know a lot of turkey trots wait until Thanksgiving day, but we like to have ours a little early 🙂

4. This song came on the radio earlier this week and I forgot that this used to be my jam back in the day.

5. Ryan and I have been addicted to playing Words with Friends 2. It’s been so fun racking my brain for crazy words. Even though I’ve lost almost every game, it’s still so fun to play.

6. Gear to make winter running just a bit better.

7. If you’re still needing a dish to take to a Thanksgiving gathering, FAnnetastic Food had a great roundup of healthy Thanksgiving recipes on her blog yesterday.

8. I love this snuggly pup.

Friday Favorites v.55

GUYS. TGIF.

Today is going to be hot and maybe rainy?. Tomorrow and Sunday are going to be hot. My plans for this hot and humid weekend include playing with Murphy in his new doggie (kiddie) pool, drinking lots of water and trying not to pass out during my runs.

Stay cool this weekend, friends!

But before the weekend begins, let’s go over some of my favorites from this week. While work was pretty busy and my runs were pretty boring, I found lots of great inspiration and fun things on the web this week.

1. Watermelon Tumbler Set. The cutest set for summer dinner parties or snacks around the pool.

2. Finding Gobi. Finding Gobi is the miraculous tale of Dion Leonard, a seasoned ultramarathon runner who crosses paths with a stray dog while competing in a 155-mile race through the Gobi Desert in China. The pup, who would later earn the name Gobi, proved that what she lacked in size, she more than made up for in heart, as she went step for step with Dion over the Tian Shan Mountains, across massive sand dunes, through yurt villages and the black sands of the Gobi Desert, keeping pace with him for nearly 80 miles.

Their story is now a book and will soon be a movie! As a runner and a dog lover, I can’t wait to get my hands on this book. Such an inspirational story!

3. Mix and match healthy smoothie recipes from Fannetastic Food!

4. I’ve been on a beet kick lately and these juices are so good! These are from a local place in Owensboro, but I also love the beet juice from Suja.img_0783

5. Chemotherapy, then the U.S. Championships, for Gabriele Grunewald. Such an great story of grit and character. I wish her the best! It really does go to show you, that most of the time, we are the only ones holding ourselves back. We have no limitations. We just have to believe we can do anything.

6. The best red, white & blue running gear for the 4th of July. *I love this tank! It looks so light and airy and it’s long enough to cover everything. Definitely buying it this weekend.
Screen Shot 2017-06-22 at 3.57.50 PM.png

7. Exercise ball ab workout. I tried this out on Thursday and holy abs it was a killer.

8. So focused on his favorite red ball. I love it. Lunch time fetch with Murphy is the best.

Friday Favorites v.48

It’s birthday month! I am someone who loves birthdays, so birthday month is a big deal to me! Plus Ryan and I take our yearly trip to STL in May. Go Cards!

This week was my first full work week in more than two weeks, so it felt super long — but also super productive! This time of year is super busy with my job, but I love feeling accomplished after a long day at work.

Before the weekend can begin let’s talk Friday Favorites and get through another work day.

1. I get to meet one of my best friend’s baby! My very first best friend had her first child a little more than a month and I get to meet him for the first time tomorrow. I am so excited for some baby snuggles and quality time with my friend.

2. This drink looks like perfect addition to any outside party! Sparkly and refreshing! Raspberry Lemonade Fizz recipe.

3. Is there really such a thing as too many shoes?! Even with running shoes, I like to have several pairs to rotate (plus I like to match my outfits) Currently eyeing these bad boys.

4. This was from @pbfingers insta story several days ago. These snack balls look delicious. Check out her blog if you haven’t already.

5. Breaking 2. (which has a neat hashtag emoji on Twitter) The world attempt at breaking 2 hours in the marathon is taking place tomorrow morning in Italy (or roughly 10:45 p.m. Friday where I’m at in Kentucky)

Runner’s World has an entire page on their site dedicated to all the info you need to know for the sub-2 attempt. It’s pretty interesting stuff. Check it out here.

6. 2016 Road Race Trends. I love looking at all the nuts and bolts of running. Like how in 2016, there were 16,957,100 finishers of 30,400 running events in the U.S. So neat! How many did you finish?

7. YES YES YES. I am in love with these sandals from Draper James + Jack Rogers.

8. I love afternoons with Murphy. He still sucks at fetch, so I usually just end up chasing him around the yard while he holds a ball in his mouth. #dogmom

Friday Favorites v.46

Happy happy Friday, friends! I am only working a half day today because our new bedroom furniture is getting delivered! I am so excited for our new king sized bed! Now there will be more than enough my, Ryan and Murphy (if you’re new here, that’s our sweet pup!)

But before the fun begins, let’s go over some of my favorites from the week.

1. I tried a sample of these coconut energy balls earlier this week when I went to our local juice bar and oh my gosh they are delicious! I’m really thinking about ordering some to keep in my desk at work.

2. Speaking of our local juice bar, on Wednesday I was feeling super sluggish and tired, so I decided to stop into Wheatgrass Juice Bar and get one of their cold-pressed juices. I ordered Turn Up The Beet and it hit the spot! It had beet, apple, carrot, cucumber and ginger and it was delicious. You could really taste the ginger — it had a little kick to it.

3. In case you missed my post on Tuesday about some of the highlights from Monday’s Boston Marathon, this post sums it up pretty well too.

4. While this is a lot more than I would spend on a top, this Draper James top is adorable! So if you have some extra cash to spend – this would be a great buy for this spring and summer!

5. Add these beauties to my running shoe collection, please.
Screen Shot 2017-04-18 at 8.32.05 AM.png

6. I won free lunch for me + my coworkers on Thursday from Penn Station. It was a nice surprise treat to end my work week.

7. I have been loving my foam roller this week after getting in some pretty good tempo runs and speed workouts. While I don’t think this one needs replacing any time soon, I am thinking about looking into a more aggressive roller (maybe something like this one?)

8. Look at this cutie hanging out in his crate. 😍😍😍

Friday Favorites v.45

Happy Friday! I know many of you probably have the day off, but journalists never get holidays, so I’m at work waiting for the weekend begin! Like many of you, I have lots of family time planned for this weekend, especially with Easter being on Sunday. While I always get to see my family since they live so close, Ryan’s parents are coming in for the weekend, so it’ll be nice to have everyone in one place!

Before the weekend begins (at least for me!) let’s go over some of my favorites from this week.

1. Brooks Greenlight Capris for $20! What a deal. Guys, I love these capris and totally plan on buying some more. They have other colors on sale too, but they are around $25ish.
Screen Shot 2017-04-14 at 7.54.54 AM.png

2. I’ve mentioned on here before that Anne at Fannetastic Food is one of my favorite healthy living/running bloggers. Earlier this week she shared a post called Mix & Match Grain Salad Bowl Recipes and it totally inspired some of my lunches for the week.

3. Grapefruit Mojito recipe from Somethin’ Southern. This looks delicious and I can’t wait to give it a try this weekend!

4. I feel like I am finally getting faster! I killed all of my workouts this week and even my pace on casual runs has been a little faster than normal. Since I’m thinking about getting back into training for a half, this is super exciting! Maybe a sub-2 is possible this year?!
img_0743

5. I celebrated my two year work anniversary on Thursday! I’m so happy to be back in my hometown and working at a job that I love with people who are pretty great.

6. I follow @Disney on Twitter and earlier this week they tweeted this cute picture. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite movies of all time and this quote instantly made my smile. Plus I love all of the flowers.
Screen Shot 2017-04-14 at 8.09.54 AM

7. Olympian Desiree Linden looks to end 32-year U.S. drought at Boston Marathon.

8. Just in case you missed all of the adorbale-ness that is Murph-dog. Check out my post from last weekend when Murphy and I had a mini photoshoot in the backyard.

Friday Favorites v. 43

What a work-filled week this has been! While some of pull-my-hair-out crazy, this week was really inspiring. Sometimes I get lost in my work and feel like I’m on autopilot, but this week was different. This week I was fired up and passionate about what I do. I am thankful to be in a career I love at such a young age.

Before I get into my work day, I want to share with you all some of my favorite things from this week.
Friday Favorites are some my favorite posts (ha! get it? favorite…) Take a look back at all my FF posts here.

I hope you all have a fun-filled weekend no matter where you are!

1. These hot pink compression socks are everything. While I am not willing to drop $50 on them right now, they are definitely on my radar (hopefully a sale will happen soon?!)
Screen Shot 2017-03-28 at 4.29.06 PM.png

2. The prettiest cheese board I’ve ever seen! It all looks delicious.

3. Some inspiration.

Screen Shot 2017-03-27 at 2.01.31 PM.png

4. We are officially less than two months until my birthday and our annual trip to STL!

5. Run all the miles, eat all the doughnuts.

6. Friday night. Wine night. Featuring Murphy. 🐶🍷

7. This Strawberry Cheesecake recipe I shared on the blog earlier this week.

8. We are loving these warmer days and all the daylight we are getting in the afternoons. img_1145

NordicTrack Commercial 1750

This post is NOT sponsored by NordicTrack. I just really love this product and want to share it with you all.

Short version: I LOVE MY TREADMILL. Uphill, downhill, easy to use.
img_0352

Longer version: For Christmas I got a NordicTrack Commercial 1750 treadmill. My husband and I had been researching treadmills for a while and we knew we wanted a NordicTrack. They seemed to have the best motors, easy to use and most of the reviews we read were pretty positive.

Even though it probably wasn’t the best idea, Ryan put the entire thing together BY HIMSELF. So it can be done solo.

It’s simple and easy to use and has a large touchscreen which I like. Sometimes it doesn’t react the first time I swipe or touch it, but other than it works great. I like that I can the screens to see a track view of my running, an info screen of calories, distance, pace, etc and an elevation and speed screen.

If you have anymore questions about this specific treadmill, let me know! We got it for a great deal during Black Friday, but two weeks into using it and I already think it is worth every penny.

I love getting to run at home and anytime I want. Here’s to 2017 and my running goals!

Friday Favorites v. 32

Well today is cold and rainy, but I am determined to make the best of it because it’s FRIDAY! I have nothing planned for this weekend and I am so excited.

1. MY TREADMILL IS SET UP. We (mainly Ryan) have moved this bad boy three times now trying to find a place where it will fit, not shake the floor and where we won’t hit our heads on the ceiling. While I wanted it in the house, the garage seemed to be the best fit. My first run on it is tonight!
2. I LOVE The Office and Dwight is one of the best characters. So here you go, 31 Dwight Schrute quotes to live your life by.

3. Ponds Nourishing Moisturizer. This is a tip from my mom. She loves this stuff. It’s super thick and creamy but unlike a lot of lotions doesn’t leave a slimy residue and smells so clean!

4. I’m not usually one to get into a political debate, but there was A LOT of news this week with Obama’s Farewell Speech, Biden getting the Presidential Medal of Freedom and Michelle Obama being on Jimmy Fallon (plus all the bad news with Trump). While I may not have agreed with everything Obama did while in office, I will say I think he (and Michelle!) was a great influence on our country and the younger generations. I hope their kindness was shown to the world and I hope others pray for this transition in America.

6. Go-Dry Fitted Mesh-Trim Leggings for Women from Old Navy. I don’t have these in the “pant” version, but I have the crops. Plus the color is gorgeous. I love Old Navy’s workout line and can’t wait to get my hands on these. They are on sale for $28 right now!
Screen Shot 2017-01-13 at 7.40.36 AM.png

7. These tassel earrings deserve all the heart eyes.

8. This pup could sleep anywhere.img_0058-1

I GOT A TREADMILL!

While I had a pretty boring weekend overall, there is one thing that happened that’s worth sharing.

I GOT A TREADMILL!

Friday night after my work Christmas party, Ryan and I stopped by my parent’s house to pick up Murphy and for me to get big Christmas gift from Ryan.

I had some sneaking suspicions that it might be a treadmill and I WAS RIGHT. I am so happy that I can now run whenever I want (in the morning, at night, two a days!)

Here is the model I have:

We plan on getting it set up later this week. I’ll be sure to pop back in a couple weeks with a full review. I’m hoping all is well. Happy Monday, guys!
