Friday Favorites v.45

Happy Friday! I know many of you probably have the day off, but journalists never get holidays, so I’m at work waiting for the weekend begin! Like many of you, I have lots of family time planned for this weekend, especially with Easter being on Sunday. While I always get to see my family since they live so close, Ryan’s parents are coming in for the weekend, so it’ll be nice to have everyone in one place!

Before the weekend begins (at least for me!) let’s go over some of my favorites from this week.

1. Brooks Greenlight Capris for $20! What a deal. Guys, I love these capris and totally plan on buying some more. They have other colors on sale too, but they are around $25ish.

2. I’ve mentioned on here before that Anne at Fannetastic Food is one of my favorite healthy living/running bloggers. Earlier this week she shared a post called Mix & Match Grain Salad Bowl Recipes and it totally inspired some of my lunches for the week.

3. Grapefruit Mojito recipe from Somethin’ Southern. This looks delicious and I can’t wait to give it a try this weekend!

4. I feel like I am finally getting faster! I killed all of my workouts this week and even my pace on casual runs has been a little faster than normal. Since I’m thinking about getting back into training for a half, this is super exciting! Maybe a sub-2 is possible this year?!

5. I celebrated my two year work anniversary on Thursday! I’m so happy to be back in my hometown and working at a job that I love with people who are pretty great.

6. I follow @Disney on Twitter and earlier this week they tweeted this cute picture. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite movies of all time and this quote instantly made my smile. Plus I love all of the flowers.

7. Olympian Desiree Linden looks to end 32-year U.S. drought at Boston Marathon.

8. Just in case you missed all of the adorbale-ness that is Murph-dog. Check out my post from last weekend when Murphy and I had a mini photoshoot in the backyard.

Weekend shenanigans

This weekend was the perfect mix of relaxation and social events.

Friday night was takeout and movies — my favorite way to start the weekend! Since getting married, I much prefer to stay in with Ryan and Murphy rather than go out to the bars.

Sticking with my routine, Saturday was for my long run. Still reminding myself to put in the work and trust the process.

My brother and I finished up some yard work in preparation for our Adult Easter Party. I love a freshly mowed yard – I just don’t love all the work that comes with it.

I stuffed roughly 100 eggs with candy and other goodies on Saturday afternoon. Who says just because you’re grown up that you can’t have fun?!

Our egg hunt on Sunday was intense and even though I ran Sunday morning, I’m pretty sure I got more of a workout sprinting across the yard trying to beat people to eggs.

Our Adult Easter Party involved two egg hunts, egg roulette (some were hard boiled, some were raw. videos were hilarious), an egg toss and a ton of good food and drinks.

After a full day of helping us look for eggs, trying to eat everything in sight and running around the yard like crazy, Murphy was wore out.

Now it’s back to work. I feel recharged and ready to tackle anything that comes at me after such a fun weekend.

What did you do this weekend?

Friday Favorites v.44

It’s here! We are only hours away from the weekend! I hope the sun is shining wherever you are and your coffee is extra strong today. My plans for the weekend include lots of house and yard work and an Easter party on Sunday. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Let’s get back to our regularly scheduled programming and get the day started!

1. So I’m late to the game with this one, but Ryan and I just rented Moana last weekend and I have been listening to the soundtrack nonstop this week.

2. From the Oiselle blog: Oiselle is thrilled to announce the launch of our GOT (Girls On Track) Bras charitable donation program. The GOT Bras mission is to help girls stay active and see physical activity as lifelong pursuit. We plan to donate at least 2,000 sports bras in 2017, and to share educational content about how to accurately choose and fit a sports bra, and understand our changing bodies. In 2018 and beyond, we plan to increase donations and produce “first-bra” designs just for girls.

3. Saw this on Janae’s blog earlier this week and I really like it.

5. Lies Instagram tells.

6. The sun is shining, it’s finally stopped raining and it’s supposed to be warm all weekend! I hope the weather is perfect wherever you are. I am planning on soaking up as much sunshine as possible these next three days.

7. Gotcha! Grandma pranks her husband with classic water bottle ‘magic trick’ in hilarious viral video – and BOTH of their reactions are priceless.

8. Puppy cuddles with my favorite.

Friday Favorites v. 43

What a work-filled week this has been! While some of pull-my-hair-out crazy, this week was really inspiring. Sometimes I get lost in my work and feel like I’m on autopilot, but this week was different. This week I was fired up and passionate about what I do. I am thankful to be in a career I love at such a young age.

Before I get into my work day, I want to share with you all some of my favorite things from this week.
Friday Favorites are some my favorite posts (ha! get it? favorite…) Take a look back at all my FF posts here.

I hope you all have a fun-filled weekend no matter where you are!

1. These hot pink compression socks are everything. While I am not willing to drop $50 on them right now, they are definitely on my radar (hopefully a sale will happen soon?!)
Screen Shot 2017-03-28 at 4.29.06 PM.png

2. The prettiest cheese board I’ve ever seen! It all looks delicious.

3. Some inspiration.

4. We are officially less than two months until my birthday and our annual trip to STL!

5. Run all the miles, eat all the doughnuts.

6. Friday night. Wine night. Featuring Murphy. 🐶🍷

7. This Strawberry Cheesecake recipe I shared on the blog earlier this week.

8. We are loving these warmer days and all the daylight we are getting in the afternoons. img_1145

Friday Favorites v. 42

The first Friday of Spring is here! While the warmer weather hasn’t decided whether or not it wants to stay in Kentucky or not, I am excited for some sunshine and the hope of temps above 60.

On the agenda for this weekend is painting our spare bedroom and doing some Spring cleaning! (Which may not sound exciting to some of you, but I am pumped).

Before the weekend begins let’s talk Friday Favorites.

1. Finding old photos! After my workout earlier this week I decided to organize the grave some and ended up finding all kinds of photo albums and scrapbooks from middle and high school. It was so fun to look back at all the memories.

*This is a picture of my mom, one of my best friends who just became a momma this week and me from one of our many trips to Florida. So thankful to have these memories.

2. Meet Jake, the newest Budweiser Clydesdale. As a die-hard Cardinals fan, I love everything that has to do with STL, baseball and beer. Last year, Ryan and I got the chance to tour the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and visit the Clydesdale Stables.

3. “Diet, like training, is always a work in progress.” SO TRUE. Love this.

4. This key lime pie Greek yogurt is the bomb. I love it. I’ve been eating it after dinner for a sweet snack.

5. New emojis are coming this summer! I am pumped for the dino emoji. I surprisingly need to use that one a lot (I’ve been using the turtle as a replacement)

6. Thursday marked three years since Ryan proposed! I still remember the day so clearly. I hope it’s something I never forget.

7. I’ve been trying a new fitness app called Aaptiv. So far, so good! I plan on having a roundup of some of my fitness favorites on Monday, so be on the lookout for a mini review of the app!

8. Murphy’s favorite spot in the entire house.

Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored. It’s a just a roundup of some my favorite things, products, etc from the week.

Treadmill miles and a baby shower

I started Saturday off with 4 easy treadmill miles before getting cleaned up to go to a baby shower! While I am loving my treadmill miles, I can’t wait until it gets warm enough that I can run outside again!

One of my longest and best friends is having a baby boy at the end of this month, so a few of us girls decided to throw a small and simple shower to celebrate her, the baby and enjoy each other’s company.

I plan writing a post later this week on some sweet treats you can make for any type of daytime party (baby shower, birthday party, etc).
Oh so sweet

Saturday night we went to dinner with some friends and then played some board games before crashing in bed. I love hanging out and being social, but I also love quality time spent at home with the people (and pup!) that I love. Trying to find a good balance between the two.

While I usually take Sunday as a rest day, yesterday I decided to get in a few miles before the rest of the world woke up — and I’m so glad I did! It felt great to get my heart pumping and legs moving so early in the day.

The rest of Sunday was spent watching movies, shopping for new bedroom furniture and re-watching more of The Office.

What did you do this weekend?! Tell me one fun thing!

Treadmill miles or freezing-cold-outside miles?

Friday Favorites v. 40

HAPPY FRIYAY, internet friends! I hope your day is full of strong coffee, easy work and lots of sunshine. I am gearing up for a fun-filled weekend that includes a baby shower, eating out with some friends and of course, family time! What are your plans for the weekend?

Before we get started, you know the drill — Friday Favorites!

1. I mentioned last week how I was listening to Ed Sheeran nonstop since he released his latest album. Well this week he was on the cover of Rolling Stone and they did a great article on him. I love it!

2. This is a good and a bad from this week.
I know I sound like a broken record here, but we have had some great weather lately. The only bad this is we had temps in the 70s on Thursday, today is in the 40s and tomorrow it’s supposed to snow. #KentuckyWeather

3. This recipe I shared earlier this week for Curried Egg Salad Sandwich. Check it out!

4. We booked our hotel for our STL vacation! The best part of this vacation (other than the city, baseball and beer) is it coincides with my birthday weekend!

5. Wednesday was International Women’s Day. While I did not attend any marches, I do support the idea of strong, independent women. Emma Watson, who is one of my favorite actresses/celebrities celebrated by leaving books written by women authors across NYC. Such a neat way to empower and support other women.
Emma Watson

6. We are so close to March Madness! Every year, the office does a bracket pool and it’s always so much fun! Last year I finished third, so I’m determined to win it all this year!

7. This favorite is a little silly, but since I have only seven tv channels at home, I am so excited Survivor is back on! It’s one of the few tv shows we get and it’s pretty entertaining. I can already tell this season is going to be intense.

8. Murphy is back to napping in weird positions. Love this weirdo.

Friday Favorites v. 39

This picture accurately sums up my feelings for today.

I am so pumped it is the weekend and while it is supposed to be cold, I have lots of fun things planned — visiting family, short road trip, lots of running and eating and movie night!

Before the weekend begins I need to get through work and this blog post. Enjoy this week’s Friday Favorites!

1. It’s officially March! We have an adorable puppy calendar on our fridge at home and I love looking at these precious faces each and every month.

Also, we are so close to baseball opening day! Ryan and I are making our annual trip to STL in May for some games and I am so pumped!

2. It’s OKAY to Feel Like Quitting

3. On Wednesday I ran my first (modified) Yasso workout. While I only did 4 800 repeats instead of the desired, it was a good start and help my determine my fitness as of right now. Good news? I finished them faster than I was expecting. Badish news? They were HARD.

4. I’ve been spending lots of quality time with my foam roller this week. I have this one and I love it. It was cheap and does the job.

5. Here’s why journalists stay in the business. — For those who are curious why I stay in my field of work.

6. I screenshotted this earlier in the week and I need these shorts. You’ve done it again, Oiselle.

7. The Voice is back! While I’m not a die-hard fan, when you have a limited number of tv channels (we don’t have cable or internet at our house), you watch what you can! I’m also glad Gwen is back as a coach. I really like Miley, but I think Gwen fits in with this group so much better.

8. Really wishing it was summer and I could spend all day at the park with Murphy.

What is one thing you are looking forward to this weekend?

Do you watch The Voice? Who is your favorite coach?

Friday Favorites v. 37

GUYS, this weekend they are saying the temps will be in the low 70s! I AM SO SO HAPPY. I cannot wait to spend all weekend outside and not be freezing to death.

But before I can go frolick in the sunshine, let’s talk Friday Favorites!

1. This distracted beagle is already our favorite at the Westminster Dog Show. He’s so precious! I love that he acts like such a puppy. #reallife

Also, the German Shepard that won is gorgeous!

2. Runner’s World tweeted this on Sunday. If you’ve been reading the blog lately, you know this has become my mantra. Seeing it earlier this week was a good reminder.

3. Cuties. I bought a five pound of them at Aldi on Sunday and I have been snacking on them all week.

4. Cole Swindell is coming to Owensboro this summer for the Big O Music Fest and I am pumped. He’s such a good singer and I’m so excited he is performing in my hometown!

5. I heard this earlier this week while listening to the Top 20 Countdown on CMT. Love Reba. Love this song.

6. Opposite to number 3, I am also loving all the Valentine’s candy that is on sale. Also. REESE’S EGGS ARE OUT. This is not a drill. Reese’s eggs and bunnies are my favorite candy.

7. I found my Fitbit that I used to wear all the time in 2014. It’s really gotten me motivated to move more around the office. So far I’ve hit 10,000 steps every day this week!

8. Murphy got a friend for Valentine’s Day! His name is Rufus and they love to cuddle.
